For my second interview, I talked to Dr. Burshteyn, who is the Department Chair of Psychology for Siena College. I interviewed him over Zoom so it was a little more helpful. He made me rethink some of my ideas about happiness.
One idea that he made me question was how I look at my fears and getting over them. He said that you don’t have to face your fear to get over it. You can just play that scenario that scares you over and over in your head until you get comfortable with it. I never thought that you could get over a fear like that. That is one thing that really stuck in my mind.
Dr. Burshteyn also mentioned that no matter who you are and no matter how old you are you will always have to deal with negative emotions. No one is happy all the time. You just have to learn how to deal with the bad healthily.
I enjoyed this interview a lot. It was nice to see a different perspective on happiness. I have many new ideas to think about going forward!
